Hey Everyone. Looking for some advice on my first out of state purchase.

I'm currently searching for a multifamily, 6-8unit preferably, in the Jacksonville area. Does anybody from the area know any good brokers/ property managers I could reach out too?

Hey everyone whats going on? Recently my cousin came across a house that we are looking to invest in.  The house is a short sale and has been abandoned for about 3 years now after hurricane sandy.  The exterior of the house needs some work but its in decent shape.  The problem is the inside of the house is a disaster. Most likely because of flooding.  We want to invest in the property but would like to hear some feedback from anyone whose rehabbed a house that had a flooding problem or anything similar.  Thanks!

@Bryan L. That was an excellent explanation. Now I truly understand what HELOC is and think thats a great idea for me to start out with. Thank you so much for the info!

@Cedric Mcbride Welcome to the site! This is the perfect sight to learn all there is to real estate investing.  I am also new to real estate investing and I must say I have learned so much from reading blogs, forums, and even asking questions and getting great responses.  Best of luck!

Thank you @Bryan L. i'm not too familiar with HELOC but, i'm going to do some research to learn more about it.

Thank you @Colin G Murphy  I am still currently living with my parents but trying to learn as much as possible.  I have been trying to meet with experienced investors and plan on attending REA meetings in my area.

How's it going everyone? I'm planning on investing in real estate as soon as possible and wanted everyone's opinion on what my best option would be starting out.  Currently i'm working on getting my bachelor's degree and working weekends.

I was thinking about purchasing a foreclosed or distressed property and wholesaling it to an investor within my area just so I can start to build up my money to use to invest in fix and flips or rental properties in the near future.  All suggestions are much appreciated.

Great information @Scott Smith I've been curious as to how trusts help protect you and you helped explain it perfectly.  Awesome post. Definitely going to use this information in the future!

How's it going everyone? My name's Connor and I'm planning on getting into Real Estate Investing. Currently, I am going for my Bachelor's degree in finance but plan on starting to invest in Real Estate after graduating. As for right now, I have been reading as many books as I can about REI as well as trying to form connections with other REIs.

I was just wondering, from other investors in Suffolk County, how they like investing around here.  I feel as though there's always an opportunity no matter where you are, but I would love to hear some feed back from people who have any experience.

How's it going everyone? My cousin and I are looking into doing some real estate investing and I came across some news the other day that new homes were going to be built near our area next year.  I was just curious as to wondering if there would possibly be anything illegal about knowing this information or anything of that matter just as a safety precaution and where i can find out more information about this building process.

Also, I assume that there most likely will be either foreclosed homes, homes for sale by owner, etc. around the new development area.  Would the building of these new homes help raise the price of homes nearby?

Thanks for any feedback and any other additional info that may help.
