Post: Should I sell or rent my condo?

I bought a condo in Jan of 2013 for about 250k and now similar units in my building are now selling for around 300k.

I have another house that I'm fixing up and should be done with in a few months. I'm wondering if I should rent out my condo to make some extra money or just sell it for the little bit of profit and not have to worry about managing rental in a condo where the HOA could restrict them if they wanted and the HOA dues just went up from 352 to 384 on my unit. The real estate lady thought I could collect about 1400 for rent on this 1 bdrm condo.

There is a 2 car garage attached to the home but that is also a good point and I wouldn't be opposed to mowing the lawn myself. I work nearby and am usually in the area quite often.

Thank you guys for the help. This is my first rental and I am probably just overly worried.

Seems like screening plays a big role in renting out a place and I will make sure I don't get ahead of myself and rent it out to someone that doesn't fit the qualifications just because I want to start collecting rent when in the long run that may come back to bite me.

For you experienced landlords have you found that by putting nicer things in your home that it attracts a renter that is less likely to destroy your place? Or am I just as likely/unlikely to have my place destroyed by renters?

I'm just about to put in some nice cabinets and granite counter tops into my first rental because at some point I will probably move into this house but I am also hoping that it will possibly attract a renter that wont want to destroy my place.

Yes the garage has easy access without intruding too close to the house. Putting the fence in between the two is a good idea though as to also keep clear of any confusion.

It is a 3/4 acre size lot. With a long driveway that pass first by the house and then ends at the garage. There is probably only 250 ft from the house to the barn but there is a lot of shrubbery in the way and if I put a fence I think that should be good enough. I wont be going there that often. I may lose a few possible leads because of it but I don't think it is that much of a deal breaker and if it is I will reconsider and possibly just rent the whole place out.

I have a house I am just about finished remodeling and planned on renting it out. The only bad part is I use a old barn to store some of my things so I would like to be able to still use the barn while renting the house out. I wasn't sure if I will do anything in particular to make this work properly besides informing any potential renters that I will be coming and going about once a week to pick up/ drop off stuff at  the barn.
