I don't have direct experience to share, but yes, I think being closer to Marquette or Houghton could help.

We've engaged with multiple contractors in the past, and it has proven to be quite challenging up here. The scarcity of reliable contractors is a significant issue. Getting quotes alone often requires multiple calls, and as consumers, we haven't experienced the level of service one would expect. It feels like we have to plead for their business.

To secure the assistance we needed, we've gone to great lengths, even treating contractors to meals. It's disheartening to feel like we have to beg for basic services. The situation is particularly critical as the Upper Peninsula has upcoming projects, such as the opening of Copper Peak, set to boost tourism, and the launch of copper mines. These endeavors will demand more contractors.

Competition is crucial to elevate the performance of contractors in the area. However, the primary need is for more contractors in general. The community would benefit greatly from an increased pool of skilled professionals to meet the demands of upcoming projects.

Quote from @Katie Miller:

If you're SELLING a BPCON ticket, please reply to this thread with the details including your sale price.

If you're BUYING a BPCON ticket, do not purchase for over the regular asking price: We aren't yet sold out so please don't get scammed into paying more than offering! You can purchase here: https://web.cvent.com/event/71fc762e-0fc1-4fd3-a893-49abee96...

Regular price: $1175

Pro price: $950

Hot tip: If you're buying, you can "follow" this forum thread to get notified when new people are adding tickets for sale.

Second hot tip: Do not post your phone number on a public website. It's also against our rules and we will remove your post if you add your phone number.

Thanks for helping the forums stay organized!

@Katie Miller @Andrew Syrios do you know how we can transfer our tickets? I'm unable to attend

@Matthew Paul I am getting familiar. Local contractors charge by the hour and it's difficult to budget a project that way. Seeking alternative options and hoped that someone here had a similar experience and/or found a solution.

We purchased two properties in Upper Peninsula, MI that each need extensive work  - foundation to roof.

This is a growing town with outdoor activity and climate migration its primary draw.  We thought we had a good GC (that's why we purchased these properties), but he is pulled in other directions. Now we're stuck. The acquisition was really inexpensive, but contractors are NOT. They're not only expensive, but almost impossible to reach  - a function of supply and demand, but also told there's partiality to locals and we're not.

So is there such a thing as traveling contractors, and if so, where can they be found?  Any and all constructive ideas welcome other than telling us we shouldn't have purchased without a surefire plan - we know :)

Hi Cassie - did you invest in these areas? If so, how's it going?
