Hello!

I am a Realtor that is currently house hacking but looking to expand my portfolio of rentals in the next year. I feel confident in my ability to find deals with the resources I have available to me and my marketing background.

However, I realize a lot of investors don’t have that and have other ways of doing so. So, I want to know! Are you using a Realtor to find your deals? If you are, what do you like (and don’t like) about it? If you aren’t using a Realtor, why is that?

Looking forward to hearing your responses 😊

Thank you!

Cassidy

@Chelsea Mastin Wow, that is awesome. Your post gave me some realistic expectations. It’s really cool too how you have turned a single family into a duplex. I have never thought about that before but has given me some ideas for doing something like that here in Des Moines. I really appreciate the honesty, it was super helpful so thank you!
@Will Gates Interesting. I haven’t thought too much about that yet. I’ll try not to over analyze! Thank you for sharing!
@Alyssa ODell Thank you! I am probably underestimated how long financing will take. Do you have any pointers in approaching lenders before having an actual deal?
@Alan Pederson Thank you!!
@Thomas S. Great advice... thank you!
@Tyler Jahnke Thank you Tyler! Those are great pointers and all things I can prep ahead of time. I’ll work on analyzing the properties for now. I’m looking to live in 1 of the units but think looking for a back up property manager is great. Awesome input!
@David Short Thank you for the encouragement David. I’m looking to do my first deal at the time that I am moving to that location (about 2 hours away). With that considered, I should still go for it now?
I am new to the BP forums as well as real estate investing. I have a date set in which I would like to have done my first deal by (first of 2019). Being in this stage is exciting but also somewhat nerve wrecking. I would love to know if there was something that delayed you doing your first deal or getting started and if there was anything that you did to overcome that! Also, what was your biggest takeaway from doing your first deal? I am looking forward to hearing about your experience. Thank you! Cassidy
