@Christian Hubbs if you guys do move forward on this, count me in on the game-planning. I've worked with Quandl and have a good handle on how to access the data. Would love to bounce ideas.

Thanks for the follow-up.

Wow, well at least you were able to catch it. And I would imagine you would need MLS to get at a reliable listing status/price? Surprised the housing details were off, though; that's unfortunate.

Interesting thread here, any traction on any of this yet?

I built a tool that I use personally for doing quick location analysis/property estimations which I'd be happy to share, though it's pretty catered to my own needs right now!

@Christopher Lightner Thanks for the response, I have not quite made it out that far yet! And haven't been to any local REI meetings, but certainly interesting in finding some local groups. My short-term goals are within the immediate radius, so Richmond, Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton. But will keep you in mind when I get across the bridge.

Hello BPers,

Just wanted to introduce myself to the community! By day, I am a software developer, but for the past year or so I have been diving in to all things real estate with goals for short-term (flips) and long-term (rents) real estate investing. I am currently targeting Hampton Roads (where I live ... well, Williamsburg, which is debatably part of HR) and Richmond, my hometown. I currently rent one SFH that I sort of fell into, and have a goal of expanding that portfolio by at least one in 2018!

While I am relatively inexperienced in the real estate investing realm, quite a few of my family members have some experience ranging from dabbling to fully immersed, so I have soaked up some things along the way. That said, I am always looking to learn and network locally with investors, resources, and in between and help out others where I can.

I'm excited to continue to grow with this community and look forward to hearing from, learning from, and networking with you all!
