Sorry my head was going faster than I could type I meant your mentor pays you by showing you the ropes and with a small finders fee.

I am 27 years old and married with two young children. My wife is a stay at home mom and I have been in the navy for 7 years. I love the opportunities the navy gave me but looking to move on and find a new career.

My wife and I started reading about wholesaling as a way supplement our income. After about a week of reading different articles and threads our interest became more of an ambition. But as much as we read we still feel like we have way too many questions. So if anyone can help answer any of our questions that would be greatly appreciated.

1. Although we are both very ambitious, neither one of us have any background in real estate. Will that matter?
2. We both feel like we have a general idea about finding sellers and building a buyers list, but the closing process still immediate us. We have way too many questions to ask right now but would love some recommending reading about the closing process on a wholesale deal in Connecticut.
3. I work long hours most days of the week but and still make spending time with my kids a priority. Any other free time is spent learning as much as I can about wholesaling. My wife is home most the day and has a lot of time to read but still has two kids that take much of her time. My oldest is starting school soon but my youngest is just a few weeks old. We're not worried about not having the time to make this dream become a reality, we will make time, we are worried about mentors not wanting to take us on because of our responsibilities. We read a couple books and countless articles and from what we understand it seems like the best way to get in this and get some hands on experience is to become a birddog for a mentor. But nothing has really gave us an idea of how to find one. We tried posting an ad on Craigslist and searched the internet with no success. Well I guess that's not true we have found mentorship programs that are asking for money we don't have. From what we understood you to find deals for your mentor and in exchange he/she pays you a ropes and pays you a small finder's fee. Any recommendations?
