Post: Best place to park investment money while building up account

Hey,

I'm currently setting aside 20% of my income aside every 2 weeks.  I'm new to investing in real estate and I am actively reading all of the books while I become more atuned to how this all works including what investment opportunities/stratigies are available to me.

In the meantime, I'm trying to find a place to park my money where I can make good interest.  I've had my money in stocks, but the volitity on a day to day basis isn't something to shy away.  I'd rather have a firm grasp on my money until I have a business plan drafted for my first real estate investment (outside of my purchasing my own home early next year).

I'd love to get some feedback from veterans and those alike about this subject.

Thanks,

Carlos

@Odie Ayaga thanks for the love. I’m excited to keep adding them as I go back and re read through. They’re already a help to me and forces me to think through the readings. I hope they are a help to others.

Hey Jim,

Thank you for the welcome.  I'm currently in reading and learning mode.  I'm creating runbooks out of the BiggerPocket books to share with others who are interested in following along and figured I'd share.  It helps to keep me accountable while I ramp up on this life long journey.

I hope all is well with you!

Hey BiggerPockets!

My name is Carlos Feliciano, and I am a tech professional from New Jersey currently living in Oakland, CA. I've been a tech professional for seven years now, and it's a passion of mine that so happens to be my primary source of income. I am currently looking to purchase my first home with my wife next year, and during the initial research phase, I was introduced to the book Long-Distance Real Estate Investing by David Greene (I figured I'd learn some new skills to build wealth during COVID).

I finished up the book and ended up ordering five other books from the Biggerpockets.com publishing company to continue down the rabbit hole of real estate investing. I saw an opportunity to create runbooks from these readings to help me better digest and apply the teachings of these excellent real estate investment practices. In infrastructure, operations, and incident management, runbooks help break down complex problems into step-by-step procedures to complete repetitive tasks. I believe this can genuinely help cut out the noise and help focus new investors on procedures and action items that push the needle forward.

I want to thank BiggerPockets for finding a stable community to invest in and educate myself. I'd like to do my part and pass on what I am currently learning in the best method I know-how, which happens to create runbooks.

I'll be writing up runbooks on all of these readings and more as I work through them over the next few months, so if you're interested in following my learning journey, using the runbooks I have created, or if you'd like to contribute, please let me know!
