Quote from @Beth Smith:

Hi Cameron, I've been an Atlanta Realtor for 22 years, live about a mile from Belvedere Park and have owned a rental single family just southwest of there on Garden Circle (off McAfee near 2nd Ave.) since 2008 that hubby and I put some sweat equity into renovating. Was working with an investor doing a 1031 Exchange 8 months ago, and suggested Belvedere as one possibility. We ultimately found a steal of a deal for her in Medlock Park. But would love to help you any way I can ... and also learn from each other on an ongoing basis. I'm new to Bigger Pockets myself.

 Hi Beth,

I’d actually love to hear more about that Medlock Park deal. I ended up buying in N Decatur for the first HouseHack and looking to create an MTR/House Hack in Medlock park next. I absolutely love that area and I think there’s some nice opportunity for travel nurses in a finished basement unit, being that that area is so close to Emory and a handful of other hospitals.

Post: House Hacking in Austin, TX

Hi! I’m currently a house hacker in the Atlanta market, employing a rent by room strategy. There is a high likelihood that I will be moving to Austin (for work) later this year with my girlfriend and I would love to continue house hacking with her, although I do realize there are many differences between the ATL and ATX market, namely price and investor activity.

Is anyone currently Househacking small MFU in Austin, a SFH with separate living space or something of the like? What are some of the growing areas in the path of progress that you're noticing?

I'm also beginning my HH journey in Atlanta, following this exact plan. I'm looking in the Southern DeKalb County area (south and East of Decatur/ELT/Scottdale) as well as SFH along the new Westside Beltline trail, near the new Reservoir Park.

Specifically I'm looking for SFHs with finished basements and 2/3 bedrooms upstairs to rent by room or to a family. Which areas are you looking into?
