Thanks a lot guys! Actually, we have had an offer accepted on our first property, a $115k condo in Middletown. Have a tenant ready to go for $1600 pcm so we will be turning a profit from the get-go after mortgage and costs are taken into account.

Looking into commercial v residential mortgages, whether to set up an LLC or to put it in one of our names as a first time buyer, etc. Lots of great info on BP.. have been listening to a lot of podcasts and reading blogs, really fantastic resource!

Hi people, just a little about myself... I'm an Irish guy who moved to the US a year and a half ago. I work in finance in NYC, and manage to save about $30k a year, which I want to put towards real estate investments.

I am teamed up with my brother and we are looking to build up a property portfolio that will eventually allow us to retire early if we wanted to! We are looking for buy and hold properties that would give us a steady cashflow.

We were looking to find markets with strong rental yields for under $200k per property, and have settled on Middletown and Newburgh as we know some people who are already doing deals up there. Wanted somewhere drivable from Manhattan, and cheap!
