@Cassidy Burns based in the response it does seem to vary greatly by location.

@John Elliott thanks for the input! It does seem like quite a bit more to think about and manage.

@Nathan G. and @James Wise thank you, these great things to consider.

@Marcia Maynard thank you for the breakdown. There is a lot of good info here.

Is section 8 housing a good place to start investing? Are these properties harder or easier to manage?

Saving money for my first investment is like watching grass grow.

What can I do to ensure that when I do get my first property it puts me in a better position to buy subsequent properties?

I read about people buying multiple properties a year/month, it seems impossible at my current pace.

@Dave G. Yes, I have seen several discussions for both sides of property management. As for me I think starting out I will manage it myself just to learn what it takes to be a good PM, so when it comes time I can tell the difference between a good and bad PM company. In the future, however, I would like to make it as hands off as possible.

Thank you for the valuable advice!

@Philip Ganz thanks for the response. That is one reason I joined BP, I hope to build some relationships and find some likeminded people in my area that may have experience with the locals.

What questions should I ask when I am calling local lenders?

What process do you use to find a good local lender?
