Fun fact: Battle Ground is named after a battle that didn’t happen. Hats off to Captain Strong.

A bit about me. I started in construction as a general laborer back in 1994. Since then, I finished college and continued working my way up through the ranks to sit as our Chief Estimator and Safety Officer. I’ve worked for the same general contractor, full time since 1998. We specialize in heavy civil, public works projects worth up to $50M, but at one point in the early 2000’s we even built spec homes as well.

Through my experience, I conceptualized and built our home. I have an eye for design as well as the ability to make it reality. We love the area and everything that the PNW has to offer.

That being said, my wife and I are looking in a handful of markets currently for various reasons.

  1. Vancouver WA
  2. I5 Corridor from Eugene, OR to Centralia, WA
  3. Huntsville, AL
  4. Phoenix, AZ
  5. Las Vegas, NV
  6. Houston, TX

We are also exploring all sort of Buy and Hold/BRRRR properties from SFR to Small Apartment Complexes. We are open to all sorts of buy/rehab/funding scenarios. I love the idea of house hacking (I have VA benefits) as well as hard or private money. Let's get creative!

I really enjoy my day job, but will want to have more financial freedom before I turn 60. My goal is to have our first REI under contract in the next 60 days. I'd love to make contacts in all of these areas and others!

@Jennifer Edwards

Regarding the need to get multiple bids: I remodeled our massive walk-in shower last year. I handled the demo, plumbing, painting and electrical.l; but the shower pan and tile part was way over my head.

So, I figure out the scope of work and materials supply and set out to get quotes. I reached out in every way I could figure out. References from friends, from Nextdoor, from Facebook, from Yelp, from Angieslist, Craigslist, etc. I told them that it wasn’t about just price, but more value, schedule and workmanship (I asked for three similar project references). Anyway, I got 13 bids. Ranging from $6500-$13000 for the same scope! I landed on $9000 because I felt this guy understood what I wanted and could deliver. The work turned out slow, but nearly perfect.

Anyway, that’s just to show you why it’s important to get multiple bids.

Hey gang.  I will be in Huntsville next weekend.  If you have any specifics you are interested in, let me know.  We are probably looking at the same properties anyway.

Are these from the ********** auction?  I haven't spent any time on reviewing those properties yet, as they tend to close right before the bid.

@Scott Stout, how did the auction go?  I am intrigued by the auctions, but figure that is likely full of the big fish with tons of cash.

@Joe Tran, if these meetups are still happening, I'd love to attend.  Also, are there other local meetups that I should be aware of?
