Hello @David Heath. I wasn't aware of that.

Would you categorize yourself as a optimist about the efforts in that area?

Hello @Julia Fair. It's my opinion that Nulu, Butchertown, and Germantown have been on the radar too long to find great deals with ease, but this is only based on hearsay from realtor friends and from being of aware of the rising prices over the last several years. I think there is some new push in an area known as Smoketown, so maybe there is opportunity there. There is also a big revitalization project in the Portland area, but I think there is a perception of that part of town and it's relative distance to the other areas already mentioned that make it a hard sell. My wife and I are planning to tour some of the revitalization projects in Portland just see what all is going on. At any rate, definitely do your research and don't base any decisions on what I have said. These are just my general feelings about things. I may change my mind as I start digging deeper.

Cheers!

Hey there @Michael Seeker, I think you are correct! The property has done well for us. We've been lucky to have great tenants.

Hello, my name is Brian Vargas. I live in Louisville Kentucky, have been here all my life (with the exception of a brief stint in Dallas), and have lived all over the city.

I have been peripherally involved in my wife's real estate endeavors for a few years and I am looking to become more active as we acquire more properties. Our goal is to build wealth for retirement through a buy and hold approach.

My wife started her real estate investing with a multifamily unit (quad) in Old Louisville in 2012. Since that time she has learned a lot and has acquired two duplexes in the same area, both of which required complete rehabbing. We currently have 8 units we manage ourselves.

We both hold 9-5 jobs (more like 7:30 - 6) and just recently had our first child. My wife works in fundraising and I hold an engineering job across the river in New Albany Indiana. Things are busy, but we have been very lucky to have a happy baby.

A couple of days ago my wife played me a section of a Bigger Pockets video on the topic of BURR. So, that's how I have come to this forum. I have favorite'd the podcast on Stitcher and have listened to a few eps so far.

At any rate, I am here to increase my knowledge of real estate investing and become an active partner in a foundation my wife has already built.

Thanks much,

Brian
