@Brian Christensen you've got some really good information here I appreciate that! I love the point that you make about it essentially being a 0% loan without the hassle of going through a bank, WHILE that same loan you took out is still accumulating interest within the policy while you invest it elsewhere. Brilliant.

@Mike DeLong Well a lot can change in 15 years of time. I'm not a believer for all of you out there who are saying "since these insurance companies make a killing off selling whole life that it is essentially a rip off for the consumer." Too many people have the mentality that since the company is winning the consumer MUST lose. My friend @Austin Luepkes made a good point to me. When you go to a bank and take out a loan for your next investment property at say 5% interest the bank is going benefit incredibly from that. So does that mean you're getting screwed over as a consumer? Absolutely not because you are going to turn around and make 10% return on that property. Just making my point that just because one side makes money off the deal it doesn't mean that the other can't.

@Albert Bui That's really the way that I would like to utilize a policy such as this at some point. As a place to just accumulate funds in between purchases of property that will generate a higher return than a savings account yet is liquid enough to be drawn on whenever I want. Also, it is appealing on how safe it is. Your cash value cannot decrease. I'm seeing how important it is that the policy be structured in the way that benefits my strategy the most but I am pleased to hear that when done so can be a successful tool for future investments.

Marcus Johnson take a look at Allen Tyndall 's. Need I say more? You're able to use the funds in the form of a loan to go earn a return in real estate while those same funds are still generating a return within the insurance policy without having to go through a bank. No too many holes to poke in Allen's analysis if you ask me.

Marcus Johnson that second part is not true. If you take out a loan from your cash value you do not have to pay it back. When you die the outstanding loan will be offset against cash value and whatever is left is distributed to the beneficiaries.

Mike DeLong why though? Is this just some myth that you've had passed down to you from others saying insurance and investments mix like water and oil? Nearly 60 posts into this thread and no one can provide first hand experience with numbers showing me why the two can't coincide.

Robert Soto I really like that idea. It would be a good way to have your kids covered for life insurance and simultaneously start a college fund for them. Thanks for the input!
