My general feel for Troy is that it is income depressed and dependent upon Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The new Bklyn thing is just hype to overprice dilapidated houses. Yeah, there are some locals who are die hard Troy lovers, but it seems to me a majority of the population is low, low income. 

I live in NYC, and spent a few months looking a properties, visiting, connecting with a Realtor, and researching Troy. I also did direct mailing, which put me in touch with a number of local landlords and homeowners. The locals I spoke to were not hyped on Troy.

Long story short, it's not a gold mine imo. I stayed away. Plus the last I heard there were plans to build numerous rental units by the water.

I'm looking for a good real estate attorney in the Albany, NY area. I started a direct mail campaign and I'm also interested in foreclosures. Anyone have a recommendation?
