Hi @Chad Hale

I look on Google and Zillow, are there any other sites you would recommend to find multi family units?

Thanks in advance!

I’ve been looking for duplex/multi family house as my first purchase to house hack, but everything is over a million dollars! Is this even worth continuing to look into??

And if anyone has been successful buying at this amount, What did your numbers look like and was it a profitable purchase?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Jon Schwartz,

Awesome, it’s nice to hear success stories out here in the Bay Area! I appreciate that information and I am going to definitely steer in that direction rather than a mobile home. A duplex would be a great start and provide experience on how to even begin handling a rental.

Thanks again!

Hi @Chad Hale,

I am definitely going to look into duplex options, I was fixated on a mobile home due to the price, but I think this is the better route to take. Thanks!

Thank you, @Jason Wray!

I’ve done research in regards to lenders and how some do not offer lending on mobile homes. However, my coworker just bought one so he has a lender he can refer me to, so i don’t have to do too much hunting on that end. I appreciate the advice!!

I live in San Jose, CA and the largest dilemma I have now is whether I should start investing in real estate, then save up another deposit to buy my first home, or vice versa? The reason I would like to purchase a home first (it would be a mobile home, because this market is crazy!) is due to the fact that I pay extremely high rent. At least with my own home I would pay a high mortgage, but it would be toward my own home. Though, purchasing an out of state home and collecting some profit could allow me to save up for another deposit, while renters pay toward my property sounds appealing as well. If I go that route I see it as, that additional profit going toward my current rent, so I am still dumping money into someone else's mortgage..

What was your experience starting out and what advice would you give?

@Otis Sanders

Those would be great starters. If you’re buying a car solely for Turo, there’s a section on there which states the most trending cars. Those are the money makers lol.

As for contactless pick up, I’ve opened the pick up and drop off times to pretty anytime during the day. I’ll usually take pictures of the car right after I clean it (night before or morning of) for it’s check out and when the car comes back I’ll take the pictures before the day ends so the picture are taken the same day they drop it off. So far it’s been working out. Good luck with your Turo ventures, I hope you make some good money! :)

Hey @Crystal St. Clair

Thank you for the suggestion! Would you say your properties are making you pretty good profit? How much was your first property and what percent did you need to put down for your first property? You can DM me too if that’s better. I want to get started, but I want to make sure I have a good amount saved up to start. Thanks in advance! :)

@Otis Sanders

I do Turo with one car and use my electric car for my regular commute. Its a great time to do it, because I do contactless pick up and drop and use a lock key box. I’ve made decent money so far and it isn’t much work. They can pick up and anytime even when I’m at work. I Just give detailed instructions. I recommend it!
