They have multiple models, you just need to navigate the site to see them. @Jill F. I may be adding a shower to a 1.5 bath unit, so I would only need the SaniShower. Using only gray water, it doesn't have the macerator. Less moving parts to deal with.

Thanks to BP member Johann Jells, I just came across the Saniflo system http://www.saniflo.com/  Does anyone on here have experience installing/using these?

@Johann Jells Thanks. I’ve never heard of those but I’m intrigued. Have you used one?

I'm looking at a rental property, 3 bed 1.5 bath SFH. Being in a college town, I need 2 baths for a 3 bedroom. How difficult is it to add a stand-up shower to a house on a slab?

@Ken Bradley You are on point. I’d love to know what older homes you are looking at. I’m BRAND new at this but I’m committed to purchasing my first rental property in 2018, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can. I will be managing it myself.

I'm in a college town as well, Starkville, MS. I finished college in 2013 so I can reference my own experience. My parents gave me the money for my rent, one roommate worked, and the other used student loan/aid money. MOST of our friends in college didn't work. It was very common to use student loan/aid money for rent. I don't believe a single landlord in Starkville does an income check for students. Students also have to buy books and eat. They find a way.

I'm in a college town as well, Starkville, MS. Many students don't mind the tradeoff when it comes to a better location and slightly cheaper rent.

@Shane Jeanfreau

I don't have a good answer for that. A lot of new apartment developments have popped up in the last five years, but I still don't think the market is too saturated. My theory is, with these new developments, those landlords that haven't put any money into their properties, don't keep up the exteriors, don't respond well to their tenants - they are now having to lower prices/fees to compete. Absentee landlords take advantage of students in a college town like this and it's worked for a while. But now the shiny, new complexes have arrived and shaken things up. Just a theory.

Good to hear from you Colin. I went to Mississippi State and still live in Starkville so I like to think I have knowledge of the rental market. I rented for a long time here. I would like to end up with an apartment complex as well but right now I’m just looking for a single family housing unit, one that I could rent to students. That’s easier for me to swallow right now. I want more capital and more experience before I take on any multi-unit place.

Hey everyone!

My name is Brent Thompson and I’m new to the Bigger Pockets forum. I’m just beginning my journey into real estate investing, specifically rental property. Starkville is a college town so the rental market is large. As we speak I’m searching for my first rental property to acquire.

I’m 27, just started a family, and I’m looking forward to getting to know many of you & learning a lot.
