Post: Door & Frame Installation

I'm looking for someone who can install a door and frame to close off my upstairs from my downstairs. There is an entry way currently, but no frame.

Any contractors in the Denver area folks recommend to complete this task for me?

Hi All,

I am setting up my basement (with a private entrance) as an Airbnb. I have homeowners insurance (of course) and an umbrella policy currently, but am curious what other insurance and policies folks recommend as a STR owner.

Do I need a STR policy on my homeowners insurance? Do I need Landlord insurance like Steadily? Is my umbrella policy duplicative because of what AirCover covers?

Any information would be helpful! I feel super overwhelmed with the jargon, what policies are necessary, and which aren't.

Thank you in advance.

@Chris Seveney thanks for the quick reply. There is no visible signs of water entering the basement. I attached a picture of a portion of the visible crack and a picture of a portion of where it has been covered up. Obviously we do not know the severity of the crack beneath the concrete.

This wall is shared with my garage. Not sure if that affects anything.

Hi All,

I'm a first time home buyer and closed on a single-family home (a recent flip) about 5 weeks ago. A couple of days ago, I noticed horizontal cracks in the unfinished portion of the basement (the rest is finished and newly renovated). The internet has not made me feel good about this discovery and seems I can expect a need for repairs. I'll learn more next week when the structural engineer comes out.

These cracks were not noticed or identified by my inspector (I had him come out twice actually). I had a structural engineer come out as well and walk the perimeter of the house and nothing was concerning to him from that perspective.

I noticed a portion of the crack has been covered/smeared with concrete. Appears to be done recently, but do not know for sure, but shows someone was aware of the crack.

My question is, is there anyone else who could be considered "liable" in this situation other than myself? Or am I totally on the line for the full cost of the fix?

I understand this house is mine and my responsibility, but given structural issues are no joke and cost me likely way more than I can afford at this point, I'd like to be aware of any alternative options.

Appreciate any words of advice. Thanks!
