I am local to the Sevier Co. area. I am looking to purchase my first rental cabin. Just like Vincent M., I am curious about how the rental incomes performed during the economic downturn. Does anyone have any insider information about this topic? 

I attended my first REIA meeting in Knoxville. I found it very informative. The topic was how to use auction.com to purchase foreclosures. I met many interesting investors and enjoyed the networking. I am a newbie to real estate investing and am learning as much as I can as quickly as I can. The REIA monthly meeting is the right place to be for someone in my shoes!

@lucascarl how did you learn how to self manage? I’m a newbie making offers on a cabin in the Smokies. I’m trying to decide if I should self manage or go with a management company. 

@randymorris I am very interested in what you find out about this cabin. I will check with Alamo Home Inspections (a local home inspector that specializes in log cabins) to see what he advises.  By manufactured drugs I’m assuming you mean methamphetamen production?

I am considering purchasing a rental cabin in the Gatlinburg, TN area. Does anyone have any experience in this niche? I am a newbie in real estate investing and am learning as much as I can!  I welcome all advice. Thank you in advance.
