Thank you @Megan Greathouse and @Bill F.! I think for right now SFH will work best for my family instead of reaching into Multifamily. And I'll be sure to look into the VA loans once I get closer to actually making a purchase, it'll be at least four years down the line.

Also thank you for pointing me to the military investors forum, I didn’t even realize there was one.

@Nathaniel Cherubini - first off, thank you.  That's the strategy I've heard of and would ideally would like to implement once I'm done with training.  It sounds like you've done this yourself, how did you balance being in the military and investing in real estate?

@Anna Peters - thank you, yes I've heard of it!

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to BiggerPockets and am interested in investing in rental property in a couple years after I've saved up the money for a down payment.  I'm in the military and one of my biggest concerns when it comes to real estate investing is how to balance my military career, my family (I'm recently married), and actually being successful with rental properties.

If anyone has any experience with this, or even if you don't, I'd really appreciate your input on how to successfully balance everything!  Thank you.

Thank you Jerry!

If anyone here has experience with serving in the military and real estate investing I'd really appreciate their advice.  My main concern is how to balance my career, my family, and investing in real estate without overwhelming myself.

Hello BiggerPockets forum members!

My name is Bradford and I just recently made an account on BiggerPockets to learn as much as I can about real estate investing as a possible way to diversify my investments.  I'm currently living in Texas, recently married, and am in the US Air Force.  Knowing that I'll be moving every three years approximately, I've heard that other members in the military have used the opportunity of moving to buy a house at each base to steadily increase their real estate investment without over expanding.

I'm not looking to begin investing for at least a few years until I finish up with training, but educating myself as much as I can is at the top of my list. So hello to everyone and I'm  excited to be here!
