Thanks Ron! That's definitely helpful. I am wondering how do you find out where to send the letter to so that it reaches the owner? In my experience, going to the rental property some tenants are very skeptical and I remember there was a time one was pretty much ready to fight me for trying to get the owners contact information even though I made it clear I simply wanted more information about the property to potentially invest in it. Do you mail it to their rental unit but address to official home owner? Or do you find out online somehow who the owner is and mail it to their home?

Thanks!

This is to anyone in general but mostly targeting real estate investors in Canada. How do you go about finding off-market or private deals for single or multi-family properties?

I've gone door-to-door introducing myself letting them know I am involved with real estate investing and inquiring about the owner of the properties information. Few have actually given me the contact information needed to contact the owner to ask if they'd be interested in selling.

What has worked for you? Do you go door-to-door? What's your strategy?

Thanks for any input whether you are in Ontario Canada or not.
