@Auston Horrocks, welcome to BP! I am pretty new to this as well. I'm down in Provo right now. I'm trying to absorb as much as I can right now, work on my goals and game-plan, and working toward having my first deal done by this summer. It's gonna be a lot of hard work, but I think it'll be worth it! There are some videos that Brandon Turner put out called the Financial Independence Blueprint. I would suggest checking those out to help you develop your base focus and action plan.

@Chace Fraser. Thank you for the welcome. I a excited and there is a ton of information to absorb and start applying!

Right now, I feel that I want to do just what you said, a live-in flip or a house hack.  If I'm able to find the right property and partner I may not even have to do that but we'll see how it goes as I start to clearly develop my goals and game-plan.

Thanks for reaching and we should definitely stay in touch!

@Daniel Criddle, I hope that house hack goes well! It seems like that is a great way to get starting with investing.

I'm also looking into BRRRR and partnering on flips, at least to start off.

I have heard of one meetup that happens on the first Monday of every month but I think the next one is still location undetermined. Check out the thread, "Looking for local meetups in Utah". Hopefully you'll be able to find it that way.

@Cherie Orellana, thanks for reaching out. Really cool that you and your husband are able to work together like that.

Your advice is great. I think that's where I'm headed right now is trying to help out others and possibly partner, before worrying about doing my own deals.

I would definitely be interested in coming to the meetup in March. I haven't found too many meetup opportunities yet. I will stay tuned!

Thanks @Sam Horton! That's awesome, I hope those new deals go well. I've been learning a ton just reading through everything and watching videos on BP.  Even though I'm in Provo now I would love to get into Massachusetts as well. What do your investments focus on, flips, rentals?

Hey everyone,

I am Bobby Dirkmaat.  I live in Provo, Utah right now but am willing to go almost anywhere on the east or west coast. I am from San Diego but I also love Massachusetts, Virginia, and South Carolina. I graduated from BYU with a degree in construction management.  Although I have the skills to work in the industry I felt that flipping and investing in rentals was a better fit for me. I love design and remodeling. I always look for ways to improve a house when I walk in. I love that I could have the opportunity to use the skills I have learned and be able to have the opportunity to design and potentially make a lot of money doing what I enjoy!

My friend introduced me to BiggerPockets while we were selling pest control last summer.  I would love to get to know more people here and make some connections, hopefully even meet up in person!
