John, how do you know that the inspector only checked one of the radiators? If you now this for a fact, then he inspector did not properly do their job. You could pursue the inspector in court to recover expenses to repair the issue. Inspectors carry insurance for issue like this.

Hi Tyler. With a construction background, becoming a home inspector may be a good fit. First steps would be to look into getting your license, which will likely require hours of training as well. You can look at the site homeinspectology.com to find that training as well as other info. If you have specific questions feel free to reach out. Good luck.

@Noam Birnbaum I have some doors in Rochester as well and can give you some names. Send a message.

My good friend has a home near Woodstock. He recently started AirBNBing it and is killing it. House is rented almost all the time. Big demand since Covid. Plenty of city folks are still looking to get out of the city for periods of time. Great idea.

I would get your own inspector for sure. Many agents have a list of inspectors they work with, but the fact this agent is strongly asking should be a red flag. This is your investment, you should choose the inspector you feel comfortable with.

Makes it difficult to perform a proper home inspection with those requests.

Many of the rehabbed homes I have inspected had major problems. Keep in mind, these rehabbed homes generally rehab the pretty parts of the home. Typically the mechanicals, electric, plumbing, structure are not touched, and these are what you want inspected. Do not pass on the inspection.

Don't think about the money you spent on a home inspection as throwing it away if you do not buy the property due to its condition or revealed findings from a home inspection. Rather, think of how much money you potentially saved by getting a home inspection. Without a proper home inspection you may miss some significant issues that can possibly cost thousands and thousands of dollars and then you have a real headache and even more remorse. We at time have done multiple inspections for clients due to the inspection revealing issues that they are not willing to deal with, and they always thank us for educating them about their purchase. $600 is a small price to pay for piece of mind.

Hi Salvador. There are home study programs that you can look into. Have you checked out what the state requirements are in order to get your license. You can take a look at this site to help you find out this information. Good luck to luck to you.
