Hello all,

My girlfriend and I are slowly but surely saving up to purchase our first multifamily property next year. My NACA councilor said I need approximately 26k to move forward. We've got some saved up now. I like our savings pace, but I'd like to speed it up a bit. How did you guys save up for your first property? Side gigs, second jobs, budgeting, combination of things, etc.

Thanks in advance

Budget aggressively, save ruthlessly and work as much overtime as you can afford! Next time you think about going out for a quick bite to eat because you had a long day and don't feel like making anything, just eat a cold cut sandwich at home, then take the $20 you would have wasted on some McNonsense and put it directly in the savings.

Yeah, my budget is pretty air tight. I am gonna double down on my budgeting and sacrifice everything I can until I get this first property under my belt. Thanks for the feedback!

Welcome, Blain! Go to NETWORK at the top of your screen and you can search for other investors and investment groups in your area. You can also check meetup.com or search facebook for real estate investment groups, clubs, or meetings in your area.

Thanks for the tips! I appreciate it!

@Blain Thomas welcome Blain! Where in south NJ do you focus your business? I'm buying multi fam in Atlantic County and some of the surrounding regions

Hey, I’m looking to start in Cumberland County then make my way towards the Philly area with each property I actually occupy.

Hey! Sounds like you got a good set of goals laid out and on a good path. I have very similar goals as you in wanting to purchase and build up a small multifamily portfolio and eventually get into apartment buildings as well. I have gone through the NACA program and will be closing on my first househack next week which is a duplex in Saint Louis. Feel free to reach out and connect and ask and questions you need!

Congrats! How long did the NACA process take for you?

Hi all,

My name is Blain. I'm a real estate agent licensed in New Jersey. I'm looking to start my real estate portfolio within the next year, using the NACA program to allow me to get my first multifamily home (Hopefully a 4 unit but willing to settle for a 3 unit) and house hack. My current plan is to purchase small multifamily homes (in and out of state) and eventually move into apartment complexes.

I've been listening to BP for awhile now and after reading The Book on Rental Property Investing, I know I need to be out there connecting with like minded people. So I plan to be active in the forums and would love to connect with like people starting out like me as well as experienced people willing to help someone like me.

I'd love to attend RE meetups (local or virtual) or just connect with anyone who wants to! Want to know anything else or just want to connect, please reach out!
