Can you create your own reverse mortgage note?

Disregard. After rereading the question, I see you want vacant homes/deceased borrowers.

Lake Keowee is my dream. I grew up on it and my childhood home is on Airbnb. Crazy!

I’m going to keep looking. Thank you!

Thanks for the input! Can you tell me more about your property?

This lake is very small, but the area is surrounded by so many cute towns and other lakes. It’s a gem of a place.

Do you advertise outside of the platforms? (Air and VRBO)

It’s up the mountain from Mainstreet in Walhalla.

I grew up in Walhalla, so I agree that it’s not a major attraction area.

The town is going to be revitalizing soon and it may be a good long term move.

I definitely want to own in that area and would settle for break even if the price doesn’t eat up too much cash.

Thanks.

Does anyone own there or now the data about it?

It’s certainly not a popular area like it’s neighboring lakes but the property I am looking at in lakefront with dock and 4/3.

@Dave Stokley and @John Underwood

either of you have insight on Mountain Rest Lake? I found something off market. Lakefront with dock, 4 bedroom.

Thanks John! I agree about visitors and the lakes. However, being a native I personally want to own on Keowee while someone else pays for it until we retire. Ha!

With that said- fear of HOA changing rules is real on Keowee. I might expand my search to Hartwell.

Lake Keowee has always been expensive, but I just saw a log cabin sale for less than $500k and it peaked my interest. I'd break even too just to have someone pay off the mortgage and us stay there every quarter.

Anyone here own in this area? I grew up here and it is my DREAM to own a lakefront home on Keowee. It is not NOT STR friendly, but I'm curious about seasonality and occupancy...the good and the bad. TIA!

P.S. We are already buying in proven markets (PF, Destin, possibly Blue Ridge)
