@Ladè Baruwa

Hi Lade, haha I hear you! I wish I can get out of our situation as soon as possible. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row and find a deal as soon as we are able to make magic!

@Kam Lolavar

Hi Kam thank you so much for your insight and advice! Appreciate it! It seems like house hacking is the way to go with my family's situation. We hope to find a fixer upper like you said. As per a team, we don't know anyone at all since we are still learning. My husband is an electrician and his dad is a contractor. So we were hoping to do it on our own to start. And start the BRRRR process after our first home. Hopefully, we find a good deal when we are ready. Thank u so much!

@Antonio Yong

Thank you Antonio! I just started lurking around here at BiggerPockets as I just found out about this forum not too long ago. I keep seeing that people are finding places around Windsor for rental properties though that’s pretty far for my husband and I. He works around Weston area and I work in Vaughan so we were hoping to buy a place at most an hr away from work.

Are you currently investing at properties? Or are you just starting out as well?

@Michael Wong

Hi Michael! Thank u so much for your advice! I have been learning more and more about the BRRR strategy and house hacking. I'm just hoping that I find a good property to do that while having enough space for my growing family of 3. We were thinking of looking around Barrie but not sure if house prices are reasonable there still or if it has gone up as well.

Thanks again! Still have lots to learn!

@Anthony Therrien-Bernard

Oh wow thank u so much Anthony for all that info! I shall look into that Scotiabank program and study more and hope to find a property close enough to Toronto to house hack!

Thank you!

@Anthony Therrien-Bernard

Thank you so much for the reply Anthony! Really appreciate it! Just a quick question. In a few years after owning my primary home, could I cash out and refinance my home and use that money to buy the next rental property? Or am I not able to refinance if I live in it? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question. I’m really just learning at the moment. Thank u!!

Hello everyone!

New member here! Just wanted to the seasoned investors about my situation.

Currently renting out but hoping to buy a property either this year or early next year. Husband and I don’t have a property yet and was gifted some down payment from family. Should we keep renting and just look for rental properties to start or should we buy a primary home first and refinance that later and use it to buy rental properties later.

Thank u!

Hi everyone! Just a quick question so my husband and I are currently renting a basement apartment with our 13 month old. We are saving for our first home and hoping to buy next year but we also would like to invest in real estate as well. Here in Canada, as a first time home buyer u can put 5% on ur first property. So him and I are thinking should we buy a primary home and take advantage of the low interest rates now or should we purchase a rental property first and keep living in the basement apartment until we can refinance that and buy a primary home after. Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Also my dad has generously given us $50k as a gift for a down payment. So we are just waiting for our credit score to go higher and get pre approved for a mortgage.
