Oh, I'm going to live at the duplex but there are tenants with time on their leases, so I wasn't sure *when* I'd be able to move in. I checked with my banker and she has since told me I have 60 days to occupy.  And you are right, you don't want to start a relationship being deceptive which was not my intent. Thanks for responding!

I'm buying a duplex with an fha loan. It's a buy and hold deal for investment purposes but I do plan to live there at some point. My question is how does the bank know whether you are living there or not?  Thank you for you input!

Thanks Matthew! It just seems some banks are easier to deal with than others and then there's the question of using a mortg. broker. Do you recommend that? While I've bought and sold many homes, I haven't done so since the banks tightened up on lending so I don't know all the new rules.

There are so many groups lending money but its time consuming to talk with them to find out they're not right for you. Are there better places to start when you're shopping for a lender so you don't waste time? Thanks!
