Picking a realtor is a big decision because as you said, it's a large financial decision to purchase a property. Given that you're looking at multi-family properties, I would make sure to find an agent that has experience with such properties or is backed by a team with experience and knowledge in this area.

Above all, work with a realtor that listens to your goals and doesn't push their own agenda on you. I wouldn't rush this decision if there's just not a fit yet.

Have you looked for an agent in this community yet? I'm sure you could find someone who has what you're looking for and understands your goals on this platform. I'd check out the recommend vendors under the "Network" tab and see what you can find.

Hi Gerardo!

I agree with others that house hacking would be a great opportunity. However, the strategy you want to implement might differ based on the property you choose.

I would suggest finding a realtor you trust first. They should know the area you're looking in and have a couple of lenders they trust to refer you to. If they send you contact information for those lenders, you won't have to worry about finding a bank on your own. Plus those lenders should be able to walk you through what kind of loan would suit you best.

Buying a property is complicated and there are definitely no stupid questions!

As someone starting to work with investors, what do I need to focus on as a real estate agent? What sets an agent apart as someone who investors want to work with?

I have to assume we're in a bit of a bubble. Like so many others have mentioned, the low interest rates have a lot to do with the current market and they can't stay this low forever.

As a potential home buyer myself, I'd like to see a turnaround in the market, if only to not be competing with every other buyer out there!
