@Eamonn McElroy Thanks!

My wife and I are moving from Alabama to Tennessee for a Job I took. We have leased out our home here in Alabama starting in April 2019.

Am I required to report to the tax collector that I am renting the home and will not have the homestead tax exemption? Will this happen automatically?

I do not want to pay any penalty obviously, but is "ignorance bliss" in this situation or is it ok to keep since it is my primary residence in Alabama technically.

Any advice is great! Thanks!
