Hey all

I am a newbie trying to fill my head with as much education as possible.  I know I am looking at previously developed areas but I have been doing some driving and scoping out and I feel like there are some deals in these zip codes that have been undiscovered.  I was wondering if anyone had any info on previous deals that could be useful when crunching numbers.  I am a cash heavy investor and would love to team up or get advise form an experienced investor

thank you both for your advice yeah I really should narrow it down a bit more. Like I said I'm about a month of education away for starting an intensive search. Brie I know you mentioned zip codes, would looking in a specific suburb such as Berwyn or Lombard be too broad? Also thanks for the the help looking for deals I'm severely limited without access to agent and MLS currently. Do you have any books to recommend as well?

Hey all,

I am just starting out and am fully immersed in the typical literature although still trying to get my hands on the ABC's of Real Estate Investing.  I am looking primarily on Zillow, Realtor.com, and Craigslist for possible deals.  Mostly I am looking for possible deals to practice crunch and get some practice on that all important skill using the calculator on the site and doing some work by hand.  I am looking into mostly duplexes and  triplexes if I can find them.  In that regard I am most interested currently in Buy and Hold until I get more experience working with contractors to dive into something like a flip.  I was wondering if anyone had a names of good agents in the Chicago area that would be able to show me properties.  I am still about a month out of education and financial capital before I can seriously consider making an offer on a property, so I have sometime before I reach out to agents just thought I would get a head start.  So after this long intro let me know if anyone has any suggestions.  Looking forward to hearing more.  I live in the city but am expanding my search to the western burbs.  Thanks much

Paige I am just starting out too in the Chicago area. Trying to read as much as a I can for now.  But would love to jump in on any meetings you might come across with wholesalers or other contacts.  Just to get some basic advice
