Brandon Turner , I realize it's been some time since this post was first initiated, but have you made any progress on collaborating with your realtor or made any moves towards starting a property management company? If so, what has been your experience with it? Also, congratulations to you and Josh on your 200th BP podcast! I've only been aware of you guys for about a month and I've learned so much since starting to listen to you guys. Thanks for what you guys do. Here's to 200 more!

Pleasure to meet you Kerry! Based on the locations you mentioned, I'm willing to bet we know a lot of the same folks! Sounds like a pretty strong portfolios, and sounds like you've learned a great deal along the way. You've thrown a lot of jargon out there with which I'm not yet familiar--OO, I'm guessing is "owner-occupied"?--but I'm sure I'll pick it up. I'm intrigued by all the ways you managed to finance deals! Did you and your husband both jump in together at the beginning or did one of you have to convince the other? Can you tell me about some of the biggest challenges and the lessons learned from a deploying, PCSing military member's perspective? Thanks for the warm welcome and for the info!

Hey! Sully! I think I vaguely remember you mentioning something about BP a while back. I've only just seen the light! Hoping you're still around when I (hopefully) rotate back to Omaha so we can wrap about the market, etc.

BP Nation,

I'm hoping to get some of your thoughts on the value and impact of grad school in the grand scheme of things pertaining to REI. I am currently working on an MBA with a concentration in accounting. Much of why I decided to go for it I owe to one Robert Kiyosaki--Rich Dad, Poor Dad really changed something in my as I'm sure it did many of you!

BP contains a wealth of knowledge and experience related to investing in real estate, buiding wealth, and all that that entails. Have any of you found added value, confidence, or insight from attending grad school that you feel you might not otherwise have gained by not pursuing an advanced degree.

I think it's also worth mentioning that thanks to my VA benefits, the monetary cost is little to nothing for me to attend school--the only cost to me is the amount of time invested after all of my other professional and familiar obligations. Oh, and the sleep deprivation... there's definitely some of that going on :)

Hi guys,

Name's Ben Davis. I'm active military stationed in San Angelo, TX, and am thrilled to be a joining such a positive and enterprising group of like-minded individuals!

A bit about me... I've served just over 12 years in the Air Force and plan at the moment is to retire from active duty sometime around summer 2024. Originally from the Omaha area (also have pretty strong ties to Tri-Cities, Washington) my plan isn't so much to invest where I currently reside as much as it is where I plan to settle after the military in one of the aforementioned markets.

Following the advice I've heard so often regarding how best to get started, I'm seeking to educate myself and get my financial house in order. We did buy a home while stationed in the Augusta, GA area about 10 years ago which we planning on holding as long as it's advantageous to do so. Would love some assistance analyzing the numbers of our property, but will save that for another time...

My long-term goal at the moment is to replace, and eventually double my income with the military, so that when I am ready to retire, I can truly be free to enjoy my family, travel, and do some good in this world. I'm passionate about learning, sports, music, and want the freedom to expose my kids to all of it!

I feel like I have some of the pieces I need, but lack the courage, the time (currently in grad school, work full time, and family is sort of important to me...) and the organization to really take off. My immediate plan is to, as I said, get my house in order and get smart on what I'm wanting to do, so I can mitigate the inherent risks involved so I can get my wife onboard!

TLDR;

New guy. West TX. Excited to be here. Ready to learn.

I'm all for a military-specific forum! I'm fairly new to the BP forums (long-time listener, first time caller...). I just listened to the 200th podcast this morning and finally decided to jump on here to see what other like-minded, military types are up to on the site. It's not that I only care about military members, only that, like @Chris Wright mentioned, there are some things like additional financing alternatives through the VA, or unique challenges that many service members might encounter with compulsory relocations, and deployments that are worth some discussion.

I just realized as I sit here pontificating that this post is 10 months old. Has there been a sub forum created and I've just missed it? I'm so excited to learn all of the things! I have so many questions!
