Thanks Greg.

The distinction between Historic Preservation and Adaptive Reuse is a good one. I would pursue historic rehabilitation, mainly to qualify for Historic Tax Credits (Federal 20% and State 20%) unless I am obligated to abide by strict historic preservation rules which I don't believe I am.

As you point out, I'm in contact with the City as well as Engineers/Architects specialized this area.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with first hand experience in any of these areas, historic rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, conversions.

I'm new to this forum and have searched for posts dealing with this subject.

I'm looking for (1) general advice, (2) referral to resources but more importantly (3) 20-30 min conversation/connection to developers (I hope this does not violate the mentor request rules of the forum, I believe it doesn't, but if it does please ignore this 3rd request) who have gone through an adaptive reuse conversion of a multi-story building, preferably a historic building, into self-storage or any other use for that matter.

I'm new to real estate development and self-storage, but I've followed the industry for years and have a basic understanding of the drivers/economics. I'm doing some initial analysis and have spoken to Engineers/Architects/System Suppliers, which has been useful in building a framework.

I would really appreciate connecting/speaking to developers that have hands on experience with historic adaptive reuse conversions, to get advice on the good, the bad and the ugly, and find out what to focus on and what they wish they knew earlier.

Thanks in advance.
