Hello, I am looking to purchase a duplex in Newark, NJ in a few months. It would be a conventional loan, 15% down on a multifamily property. Any recommendations?

Thanks for the reply Marshall, it looks like the 5% down for conventional doesnt exist under freddie mac and fannie mae. Thats where I was confused.

When applying for a mortgage and the banks look at someones income, they will give a mortgage estimation of what someone can afford. What happens if the property is a duplex though? Does the bank take into account that the other side will be rented out, thus bringing income?

Hello folks! I am looking at some markets in New Jersey and New York (state not city). I would like to look at some properties at the auction house when they default on foreclosure. Anyone have any tips?
