Anyone convinced to invest in real estate overseas now? The economy here is a bit more stable with all the financial market problems in the US.

I am looking to go into residential housing in the UK. Housing here is falling in price, and the strength of the dollar is high. I believe the pound will go back up in value when things stabilize again in the economy. This set of circumstances leads me to believe that I can get good deals on falling property, and turn good old american cash into a profit as well by taking advantage of the exchange rates. Since i live in scotland now I want to partner with financial backers, doing all the ground work in finding and selling properties while splitting profits. Now is a good time to invest in family homes. There is no stamp duty on houses below £175kfor 1 year. Saving about £1800 on purchasing(the thing that annoys all investors over here because it cuts into the profits). Glad to hear from a fellow Virginian! Its been over 1 year since ive seen Bath County soil!

UK market question: Anyone have any thoughts of the 1 year stamp duty holiday by the UK Government on £175,000 or less properties? Will it help the UK market, or have no effect. Seems to me that it will only help property investors here, and not families trying to buy for the first time because of the high downpayments banks are looking for. With the rate of the dollar gaining on the worth of the pound, i think some serious money can be made over here. In 6 months the pound has fallen to 1.76 to date. It was as high as 2.00 on March 2008. I think it will go back up, making some serious cash for investors.
