is there a way to check the amount of Equity in a property before agreement on a deal?

Hello All im going to try this again because maybe i asked the question wrong i should have asked are there any multi fam investors on here from Richmond Virginia or any who invest in multi fams in Va...or Any who reside near or in Va who invest in multi fam properties...now I think I have it ALL covered lol...anywho im starting to wonder if there is a such person in my city or state..

Just wondering if there are any multi family property investors in the Richmond Virginia area..experience in 10-25 units a plus but not limited to. ..just want to get some info & pick brains lol..please help me out fellow investors..yall are some the smartest people ive ever had the pleasure of meeting..nothing against SFR but I want to go past the wholesale and flipping arena & I know someone on here is great @ what they do in my area & can help me in my journey..thanks bunches

@JeffGreenberg thanks a bunch yes makes alot of sense to get with someone who is doing the business..yes I am gaining knowledge but its nothing like actually doing so thats what im anxious to get started on..thank you again very much

@BrianAdams 1st of all i want to say thanks for being inspirational to me & others my question is a a investor who hasn't done alot of deal & doesn't have stock options..7 figure job etc how realistic is it to start doing apartments..i have a few flips under my belt and after reading posts like yours & doing a little research I  see that multi family is the next phase for me..how hard is it for someone starting with  nothing but knowledge 

@Azeez K ok have another question sir..are securing FHA or VA loans the only way to purchase a..ummm lets said a 4 plex? What are your creative financing options? Can you lease purchase..seller finance? Etc are these options also available on larger units such as 5 - 100 units?
