I wasn't actually considering time shares, but that is interesting. I'd imagine a timeshare would carry even more additional expenses than vacation rental on average. Though the setup your friend has managed sounds pretty sweet.

So it sounds like my efforts might be better spent continuing to pursue SFHs in the area especially considering I would need to use a management company.

I have noticed a huge increase in competition in my area for homes, I've noticed that the major hotspots for vacationing still have very little competition, and prices are still falling. Has anyone had any success long term with vacation rentals? We are not talking condos on the beach here, but sfh in vacation areas (although if you've managed to make condos work that would be interesting as well).

I use Harry Brown's Permanent Portfolio. It has a history of very predictable returns over inflation.

I should have said it clearer but i completely agree. However it is the first time so I can understand that there are more important things to get organized. Just the fact that they are hosting a conference is a huge undertaking. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed I will either be able to make next year or that recordings will become available at the last minute :)

Audio recordings in some form would be great. Please keep us posted!

Ugh that would be unfortunate. At this point I don't see any way I'll be able to make it out there this year :-/

For those of us that can't physically make it to the conference is there any plan (or could there be) to have an E-pass? Either with live streaming of the sessions or recorded sessions available later for a fee?

Unfortunately it is a busy time of year for me at work so I cannot get away, but really would hate to miss out completely. I'd imagine there may be quite a few people in this boat. Obviously we'd miss out on the networking that goes on, but something is better than nothing :)

In this business we all know cash is king. I have recently noticed that my goals to build wealth have been impacting my quality of life more and more. We have been putting every penny away and avoiding all the things that make living nice to build that nest egg as fast as possible. I've recently come to the realization that left to my own devices I might not ever stop and could miss the opportunity to enjoy the wealth I'm creating.

I think this is probably an issue most business people run into eventually. How much of your business earnings do you reinvest into growing your business versus using for personal enjoyment? How do all of you manage to keep the balance in your personal spending and goals for the future?
