@Joseph Druther. How's it going? I was raised in Charlotte and still have some family there, but also in Durham, Oxford and mountains. I see your from Pinehurst. I've only made that way a couple times, but remember it being pretty awesome. Thanks for the welcome!

Hi All - 

I'm pretty new to all of this and look forward to being a part of the community. Seems like a great place with loads of info. 

I live in Brooklyn, NY and been working in film/tv production the past 15 years. I found the Bigger Pockets podcast because I'm homeowner/landlord with a 2-family townhouse and I've been wanting to get more serious (and educated) about my next investment. I'm not 100% sure what that will be just yet, but know being a member here will help me develop some goals and a plan to get there. 

I was particularly inspired by BP Podcast 006 w/ Arthur Garcia, who holds a full time job, but decided to build a strong enough buy and hold portfolio to not have to rely on it forever. So far that seems like the direction I'm going to focus on even if it's slow going or winds up being nothing more than a couple rentals. 

The NYC metro area is a bit astronomical right now, so I'm particularly interested in investing in properties in other parts of the country. I'm originally from North Carolina and still have family and friends there so I might use that as a starting point. Of course the notion of investing and landlording from afar feels a bit daunting to a newbie like me, but also doable with the right approach (right??). Hope to find some others who've been there and excited to keep reading and listening!
