Post: What bank would you recommend?

I live overseas. I'm going to come to US in the middle of autumn to purchase an investment property. I'm trying to understand what better bank to pick in Austin Texas area to transfer my funds to. My relative lives in the area (she is a US citizen) and she is asking me which bank should she open an account in to receive my funds, because I cannot open a bank account from overseas myself. (well at least I don't know about that ability).

Hope I'm posting this in the right forum, if not, please don't be angry, I\m new here.

New to US. What bank would you recommend for day to day transactions in Austin Texas area: which has lesser fees, enough branches and ATMs, and a good customer service.

Thanks for your time.

Too many fakers out there stealing money and make small fees appear legit.

And what is the standard amount to process a loan?

Are there any annual payments for using a loan?

Thank you for your time and patience.

Another question. Is there any special local Texas tax or everything I should pay is Federal tax and IRS is the place to look for answers?

Thanks a lot Nathaniel.

Is it possible to find and deal with a tax accountant through the net without my physical presence in US?

Hi everyone.

I'm an Australian thinking of buying a single family home in Round Rock Taxes this autumn. I'm a bit confused about the taxes I should pay in US, if I buy a house for 250K and rent it out.

I would be glad if someone could post a link to some information on US taxes in me case.

Thanks a lot Peter for your advice.

2. I'm serious all right, I'm just trying to prepare everything upfront and decide what is better. US market is new to me, but I'm studying.

3. Interesting. When I was doing the same stuff in Australia, it was a lot easier to talk to a mortgage broker than the bank itself to get a HELOC.

5. I'm sort of a passive investor. I buy and let it stay for 7-10 years then I sell, so to me it doesn't really matter how fast I see growth - property is still better than a bank deposit. I predicted market in Moscow 15 years ago correctly and had great returns since then, but now it's flat for the last 5 years, time to move on.

Thanks mate.

Yeah Melbourne street rocks.

About the inheritance. I can purchase a house in the name of my close relative who is a US citizen, but I have some info (which I still need to check) that says that If this person dies, and there is a will, I'll have to pay a big amount of tax to register that house in my name.

Thanks for the IRS link.

Hi Bryan

2. I'm not a US citizen, I'm an Australian citizen :), but my sister is. I thought that it is better to put myself on the title, because I have some information that when you inherit real estate in the States you can loose a lot in tax, when the title is passed to relatives.
