@Matthew Greco  60K will not be enough for a 20% down payment.. However it still allows you to buy with a 5% down payment in many areas in Queens.

@Mathew Greco

1st- You should verify the $ maintenance.. It appears to be very low..  Typically property taxes are included in the maintenance...your uncle may have been paying receiving the senior citizen reduction which would reduce his taxes in half..

2nd-  Also confirm with the board that they allow the apt to be rented out.. Most co-op's are only owner occupy..

If you have substantial equity.. I would sell and use the proceeds to invest in a 2-3 family house.. Higher probability of price appreciation.

Besides the  unusual risks (owner deciding not to sell after you finish, fire, etc..)   $375,000 would be too high a price for an investor..

Would love to know if anyone can share a REIA club in the 5 boroughs or Long Island which they have had a good experience at..

Looking to join a club.. hesitant because one of the clubs in Manhattan appears to be selling services rather than educating...  would like to join a club which offers good networking, education, and minimal pressure to buy services...    Thanks.
