Thanks for the tips on "underground" BP meetups, @Mehran K. ! I'm excited to get out there and meet some folks in person and try to wrap my head around the (daunting?) idea of finding deals in such a heavily-populated and high-priced part of the country.

I'm from Ann Arbor, MI originally, so a triplex for $1.1 million seems like a whole lot! But if the numbers work, the numbers work. :) Hopefully I'll see you guys around town!

Nice to meet you! This really must be a great place if I've already met somebody near me within 25 minutes. :) Do you recommend any good South Bay-area groups to meet with? I saw there are quite a few on Meetup with several hundred people. Or maybe there are smaller ones just for the South Bay?

Hi everybody!

My name is Ben Wakefield, and I live in El Segundo, CA which is a little suburb of sunny Los Angeles (right by LAX). I have owned and ran a small business for the past few years and I have become very interested in the idea of passive income and real estate investing.

My first goal is to use this new body of knowledge and contacts to help move my family out of our very expensive rental home and into a multi-family property that I own and manage. That will dramatically lower our month expenses and give me more flexibility to pursue other buy-and-hold opportunities!

I'm super excited to be a part of the BP community and look forward to meeting you guys and gals, and learning all I can.
