Hey Dennis, thanks for the response on this. Great points about multiple entrances and getting creative. I'll take a look at the STR restrictions in East. One thing I'm going to try to make work as well to ease the process is having a close friend or two move in with me, depending on size of the house I get. I think that would make things moderately more comfortable with it likely being a single family residence. I have checked a few places out. I was connected with a realtor through Veterans United as well. It's starting to warm up here and more is coming on the market. Hoping to really hit the tours in the next month or so. Linked an example of something I'd be interested in below. Ideally something where I can get forced appreciation + roommates - https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/1624-Porte...

Hey all. Thanks in advance if you take the time to read this and help me out. I live in Nashville - currently rent a 1bd apt for $1800 down town. My lease is up in October and hoping to utilize my VA loan so I don't have to renew my lease. First time homebuyer, wanting to house hack a single family home. Currently preapproved for $400k but want to stay under $350k if at all possible. Primarily looking in East but open to just about anywhere. Any advise to get the ball rolling and lock something in soon? Outside of reading set for life I don't really have any exposure to real estate or house hacking.
