Post: Backdoor IRA/Health Savings Account

Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some insight on how to reduce my taxable income. I already have a Roth IRA (Vanguard), but just recently heard about the backdoor IRA on the money podcast and was wondering if I would have to close that Roth IRA and open a traditional one with tax deductible money then convert it over to a Roth to avoid capital gains tax? If so how would I go about doing something like that?

Also The HSA really sparked my interest, but I read online that it is only for a high deductible high premium plan? Being that I'm 23 and healthy my deductible I don't believe is high enough. So would I have to go get new insurance in order to get an HSA or is there a way around that?

Thanks Everyone

I’ve been an independent contractor for about 6 months, and am looking to buy my first property but am having trouble securing financing due to that I don’t have two previous years of 1099 tax forms (because I’m fresh out of college). Any thoughts or possible ways around this?

I’ve been listening and following BiggerPockets for about 2 years now. Fresh out of college with no debt and stashing about $3000-4000 a month for my first investment property. I’ve lived In the Colorado Springs area for about 20 years and would like to start my investing career in my hometown.

I’m gone about 2-3 weeks a month for work (hence how I save so much money). But am ready to start putting my money to work.

I have no problem putting up capital for a deal, or hard work. The week or so I am off I really want to fill with hands on experience in real estate. Whether that be helping renovate, search for deals or just shadow what all you professionals are doing (I’ll even buy you coffee). If anyone is interested feel free to let me know, even if you’re new too I would love to just sit down and talk with you. Thanks BP hopefully meet a bunch of you guys soon.

Hi my name is Austin, I'm new to the whole real estate investing game. I'm 22 years old and looking to be retired by 30, a lofty goal I know, however from what I've heard there are quite a few of you out there who have done it. I live in the Colorado Springs area and am looking spend my 1-2 weeks off a month, in-between my work schedule to get to know the real estate game. Looking forward to chatting with and meeting a lot of you.
