Quote from @Andres Rodriguez:

I would say to be cautious of areas NE of Reid St due to rougher neighborhoods or more rural parts such as SW of Silver Lake Dr. With that being said, if priced right and you screen your tenants you can have a successful rental in most areas of Palatka.

I really appreciate the insight on this, you have been very helpful.

@Andres Rodriguez are there areas that rent well, such as the downtown area? And areas that may not be the best rental spots in Palatka.

@Andres Rodriguez thank you for the feedback. Very reassuring as I am familiar with the palm coast area and south of it but not too familiar going north from a rental aspect.

Does anyone have advice on investing in Palatka, FL?

Curious on how section 8 would do in that area?

I honestly have just used the app offerup and found a list of retailers there that sell. Last stackable I got for $450, this was a 27 inch GE or Kenmore (Can't really remember) and the tenant has had it a year thus far. I would just make sure it has some kind of warranty, even if it is a 30 day because you may find some that does not have any.

Post: insurance cost for older investment houses?

Hello @Feng Ye

Insurance is sometimes a tricky thing with older homes but I suggest that if you see some homes that you are interested in to then call a few places and have them do some quotes for you, you may not have all the information but you should be able to grab enough from the listing or county property appraiser site. Each company is different but I recommend if you do have a house of interest that you are in contract with, see if you can get information on who the seller currently utilizes for the home. I have done that before and sometimes it has worked and sometimes it has not. Also, recommend finding an insurance broker that can shop this out for you to get the best rate.

The 10 years roof thing I have heard off with "flat roofs" and this typically is feedback you receive when dealing with the bigger more known insurance companies that we all know and hear about. Also, roofing alone is not all that is looked into, there is also plumbing, HVAC, and electrical (4 Point).  If you send me DM I can further help you and refer you to 2 or 3 that I currently utilize.
