It is nice to see that there are people from the UK here!

I didn't hear about any meetups or a community here. I would be happy to go if there is one.

@Asrar Rashid I read The Complete Guide to Property Investment: How to survive & thrive in the new world of buy-to-let by Rob Dix. It was very helpful!

Did any of you find a nice niche to invest in? (I mean a city with considerably sensible prices)

Hi Zac.

I think its a good idea to be involved in different markets as you are. Tax application to Real Estate seems to be more favorable in the USA versus the UK. Also being long distance there are ligtimate expenses that can be applied to the USA side. A major advantage of the USA system is the depreciation calculation on the USA suide and the 301.

There is a dual tax agreement with the USA - UK , however you should seek a competent CPA, but my general sense is that one should pay USA taxes in the USA and not apply these to the UK.

Thanks for voting!

I'll check out The Property Podcast.  I agree there is potential everywhere.  We actually just acquired another rental in the Kansas City and will probably continue to invest in the US while we are located in the UK.  My main reason to look for a real estate meetup in my area is to spend time around like minded people and keep myself motivated.  Who knows maybe an opportunity to work with some investors in the UK will come out of it.

I tried to vote for your post from the BP app but it gave it a -1 votes so not sure whats going on there.  Probably user error on my end.

HI there! I am a UK property investor (for my pension) though now based in the UAE .. and I was in colorado in 2003 where I have a property. I see potential in all areas of the globe. I think the principles of investing are the same across all markets. May I suggest that anyone interested in the UK property market take a look and listen to the resource THE PROPERTY PODCAST BY Rob Bence and Rob Dix. There they will also give you an idea of property meet ups across the country. This podcast is awesome .... take care ... Asrar

Hi. I have a wells fargo mortgage from 2003 on a condo in Denver Colorado. I wish to use the equity as a second mortgage to invest in Florida. I need help and advice re code re-finance followed by a LLC mortgage for the property in Florida. I am overseas, but I have a SSN and clearly have a credit score due to my loan in the USA. Can anyone offer me leads for the mortgages and refinance? Thank you

very helpful indeed. Thank Dan and Upen.

I am filing uk taxes for Usa purposes - dual taxation treaty. So I would be classed as foreign.

I was hoping the banks would take my salary and broad foreign financial situation into the picture when lending ... rather than just the cash flow on the asset. Saying that the gross rent is $ 1500 and the mortgage is about $ 850. Any thoughts ?
