@Brian C. thanks for the tip. That's funny you mention that, I was just looking at a list of properties under 10k today thinking.... there's gotta be some catch here. I'm definitely going to try and go to one of the REI meetups. Thanks again!

Thanks @Lynn Currie! Excited to be here :-)

Small world that we share both cities! I'm glad to hear you've had good fortune with REI in Austin. As a newbie to REI, I'm still crafting out my strategy, and I hope that figuring that out will give me more confidence. Thank you for the advice!

I would love to reach when I'm in Austin.  Thanks again :-)

Thanks, Sharon and nice to meet you!  I think you're right about doing a flip locally.  For the time being, I'm going to focus on doing a flip in either DC or Baltimore.  If/when I do venture back into Houston, I'd love to chat more.  Thanks again!

Thanks, Joseph!  Great to connect with you and appreciate the suggestions.  I plan on going to Baltimore this weekend to drive around some neighborhoods and get a better feeling.  What neighborhoods do you mostly flip in?

Hi Tony! Welcome to BP! I'm a newbie also, a fellow IT consultant who is hoping to one day get out of the office by doing REI full-time. I'm currently trying to decide between Houston and Baltimore/DC area. Would love to stay in touch about how your experience in Houston goes.

Let me know if you ever want to meet up in Houston over coffee!

Thanks @Seth Sherman.  You mentioned Baltimore being good for rentals.  Do you feel like it's a solid market for flips as well?

Welcome @Mark James II! Good for you both for getting started so early.  I'm a newbie here, too and look forward to learning as much as possible.   Best of luck!

@Jimmy Huen  thanks for the info and that's great that you might have a rental in the near future! I hope you find something good!

If you ever want to talk about landlording, let me know.  I dont have a lot of experience, but am happy to share what I have :-)

Hi all, I'm new to BP and looking network with other REIs.  I'm thinking about buying my first rehab property in Baltimore or DC, but want to find a few good contractors.  I know they are out there, but it requires patience/effort to find them.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, Jimmy!  Do you do rentals in Houston?  If so, have you had a good experience?
