@Basit Siddiqi . Thank you for the warm welcome!
That sounds like a great idea. I will look into some conferences/events locally.
Thank you!

@Michael Plaks

Thanks for the reply. I understand it's hard to start a property management company being in the military, as I've been in this life for 13 years and have my own business as well as hold a corporate executive position. That's why I wanted to start investing now with future plans to do property management.

I do not know about real estate, thus my questions may be off a bit and I am learning all the nuances.

I appreciate your knowledge.

@Natalie Kolodij

Our home of record is South Carolina (according to military) and are due to get orders to North Carolina. If we do, would this topic be something you could advise on?

Hi there!

Would it be beneficial for me to form an LLC and elect S Corp taxation status? My goal is to buy and hold investment properties but also become a licensed real estate agent to property manage others properties and build a large multi-faceted investment and property management firm.

My thought is I would benefit from S Corp status by saving on the self-employment tax ? I'm trying to set myself up for long-term success based on where I want to go with this but not sure how to get started.

I want to start investing now and manage my own properties but won't be able to manage other people's properties right away due to having to work under a broker in charge for a few years.

The catch: we are a military family due to get orders soon so it's hard to put roots down somewhere. Any advice is appreciated

@Nicholas Aiola

Would you suggest that buy and hold investors form an LLC taxable as an S Corporation in order to take advantage of the tax deduction?

Hello everyone!

My husband and I have been listening to the BP podcasts and doing our research on real estate investing for the past few months. I am a military spouse, husband is a Marine on active duty and we are currently stationed in New York. My corporate day job is as the Vice President of Marketing for an outsourcing firm.

We are interested in getting into real estate to build wealth and eventually do it full time as a team. My husband retires from the Marine Corps in 5 years so we'd like to start now in hopes that it will help ease the transition from an active duty family to civilian family.

We are very new to this and of course have many questions on taking the first step on getting started. We own a home in Alabama that we've had for 5 years and plan to buy our next home (primary residence) when we move to our new duty station next year due to getting military orders.

Based on what we've learned thus far from BP, we think our primary goal is to buy and hold....in hopes that we can have cash flow and make other investments overtime where it makes sense.

Long-term goals are to be able to build a large investment firm and purchase properties in Miami Beach and other vacation areas. (May be a long shot but gotta have goals, right?)

Hopefully I didn't ramble on too much. I look forward to engaging with everyone!

Ashton
