 What I'm saying is that I do have experience running FB advertising for other purposes and can say that it DOES work, when done properly. I'm also pointing out that FB isn't the only source for marketing - there are plenty of potential sources of leads, it just takes time, effort, and marketing budget to test.

Hello David - I'm considering that the original posts are a year old, not sure if you'll get any bites from previous posters, but I did see your post so I'll respond :) 

I don't run FB Ads as an investor, but Digital Marketing is what I do for a living so I can tell you that online marketing CAN work when done properly, and Facebook isn't the only way to get leads. There's also Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yelp and many other avenues of generating leads for your business. Let me know if you have any questions.

I see that you've run plenty of online advertising, but nothing has worked out for you so far. I'd like to help you out, so can you please give me some more details regarding your ads? Which ad platforms (other than Craigslist and Facebook) have you tried? Have you run Google Adwords? How long were you running advertising for? How much was your ad spend per month?

With some details, we'll have a much better idea of what actionable advice can be given. This can also help out others who may come across this thread looking for ideas as well.
