Crystal,

that could mean anything such as their waiting for the judgement or perhaps trying to determine taxes owed, etc.  I would suggest you call the tax office or the law firm and ask them.

Pretty tough to buy right in Harris County right now at the auctions.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have more questions.

In Texas you do not purchase the taxes, you purchase the deed at the Sheriff sale and you then own the property, subject to their right of redemption and to contest the sale.  Contact me if you need more info.

Errin,

In Texas, if the property is struck off at the tax sale, the ownership is now in the taxing entity that it was struck off to.  You should contact that entity and ask how they handle the struck off properties.  Every taxing entity handles them a little differently.

Sometimes in Dallas county they are "pulled from the sale" instead of being struck off.  Make sure of the status.

There is no interest on tax sale properties purchased in Texas since it is a tax deed state.  You get a deed and not the lien when purchasing at the auction.  If redeemed, the penalty payment to you is on what you bid not just on the delinquent taxes.

I have been doing these in Texas since 1992 and will be happy to answer any questions about tax sales in Texas. My company has a turnkey program for investors and I frequently speak about this topic at REI Expos and club meetings in Texas. Please email me if you have questions.
