Hi Adrian! A few things here to make it smooth: 

Yes it must be in an interest bearing acct, the bank will know when you tell them you need to open up a tenant acct (savings) / landlord security deposit acct. Different banks might call it different names. The tenants have to be informed of that location where their deposit is being helpd (after lease signing). 

Also for example... for Chase they would have you(the landlord) listed as Escrow Agent when they send your statements. 
Have your tenant fill out and sign a W9. Have a picture of their ID and phone number readily available. Have your signed lease printed out to bring with you (or email it to the bank rep's email) & make sure their names on the lease matches their names on their ID exactly.

Remember at the end of the lease, tenants receive all sec deposit back WITH interest within 30 days if you're satisfied w the condition of the property upon vacancy. Hope this helps!
