I love the number of women that have said nothing. I used to focus a lot on obstacles in my career path as a woman in a male dominated industry but realized this is a self-limiting mentality. If the people you work with don't respect you equally, find new people to work with. I find if you know your business and come across as knowledgeable you will find the right people. It also just takes time and experience to feel confident. 

I agree, I like to know exactly what the arrangement is. Of course, I would do my own work as well evaluating the property but it would be nice to know that the main agent is the lead since I know what his background is. 

Thank you both for the quick reply! I appreciate the feedback! I wasn't sure if this was common practice since I haven't worked with many agents. I understand the burnout that agents must be going through especially in this market. I just want to make sure the person evaluating the deals is an investor also. Thank you! 

Hi Everyone,

I recently contacted a RE agent out of state in an area I would like to start investing. They reached out to me immediately and were very responsive and I liked their background and experience. I spoke with them for a good amount of time and asked a lot of questions about investing experience, connections, what I'm looking for etc... and felt good about working with them. They sent me their intake form and I completed it and sent it back. Then the agent replied back to me and said they were looping in another agent whom I had not spoken to and said they would also be helping me. I was a little confused and asked if this would be the primary person who I would be working with since I know nothing about them and didn't have the chance to interview them. The agent said he regularly works with this other agent and it allows them to have more availability to show properties. I asked if this other agent is an investor and what his experience is and got the reply that he is just as qualified. The other agent then sent me his portal and a listing. 

Am I being overly cautious? This made me feel uncomfortable because the agent was not up front about the arrangement before I made the decision to work with them. Since this is out of state, trust is a huge factor for me and this is my first investment so I want to feel good about who I'm working with. It just felt a little like a bait and switch or like I was being handed off which I've seen a lot in my line of business with smaller clients. The other agent could be perfectly qualified but I would like to be able to talk to them myself and see if I want to work with them.
