I am a newbie in real estate investing, but I am a full time engineer! I hope I can do both for really long time.

I know properties are expensive in South Pasadena, but I didn't know the city isn't very developer friendly. That makes a big difference.  La-Crescenta is also an option for us.  However, we are first time buyer and we have decided to start with a multifamily for sure.

A good deal to me, is a building not older than 1985, that cash flows or at least evens out the mortgage if we live in one of the units. I also prefer it to be in a good school district like South Pasadena, or La Crescenta-Montrose.

My husband and I are looking for to buy our first property, and we are looking for a multifamily in South Pasadena, CA. Most of the buildings aren't in good shape and the prices are crazy high. I was wondering if anyone has been able to find a good deal in this area, and if you know a good agent who is familiar with this strategy to introduce us.
